Background: The negative role of perceived injustice in chronic pain outcomes has been described. Therapeutic alliance is an important mediator. This has been shown in the rehabilitation setting but not studied in patients attending a chronic pain clinic.

Methods: A cohort study of adult patients attending a chronic pain clinic was designed. Institutional ethics approval was obtained. Collected data included demographics, symptoms, therapeutic alliance and perceived injustice scores.

Results: Collected will be reported including demographics, symptoms and correlations.

Conclusions: Perceived injustice is high in patients attending a chronic pain clinic. There was a relationship between perceived injustice and therapeutic alliance in these patients. Healthcare needs to be aware in this setting of how perceived injustice can influence therapeutic alliance. Healthcare needs to work on strategies in increase trust in this setting.
