Mesentery and Peritoneum (MAP) is now a member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

Starting from July 2021, AME Publishing Company is formally recognized a publisher member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and over 60 AME-published journals become a member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as part of AME’s commitment to best practice in scholarly publishing. Mesentery and Peritoneum (MAP) is among the list of COPE membership.

Primary mesorectal carcinoid tumour, a case report and review of literature

Management of carcinoid tumours of unknown origin is challenging and as such should be individualized with a multidisciplinary-based approach. The mesenteric organ should be considered as a potential primary site in the setting of mesenteric carcinoid when no other primary focus is identifiable.

Use of the mesentery and peritoneum to facilitate the absorption of yolk sac nutrients into viscera of the developing chick: novel function for this organ

The distribution of birefringent liquid crystal lipid droplets indicates that the mesentery provides a conduit for the distribution of nutrients from the yolk sac to viscera.

Editor-in-Chief: J Calvin Coffey, B.Sc., PhD., FRCSI., CS.

J Calvin Coffey, Foundation Professor of Surgery and Chair at the Graduate Entry Medical School, University of Limerick and surgeon at the University Hospitals Group Limerick, is the Foundation Editor-In-Chief of Mesentery and Peritoneum (MAP). Prof. Coffey also holds positions at deputy director of the 4i Centre for Interventions in Infection, Inflammation and Immunology (Universoty of Limerick), is a national council member of Irish Hospital Consultants Association and was previously RCSI Vice-Dean of Surgical Training, and council member of the Surgical Infection Society Europe. He is a founding member of the Health Research Institute, University of Limerick. After completing surgical training at the Cleveland Clinic Ohio, he was the youngest appointed Chair of Surgery in Ireland.
