AB189. Lymphangioma of anal canal—case report

Abstract: Lymphangioma are benign lymphatic malformations, mostly occur in skin and mucous membrane. Most common sites are head, neck and extremities and rarely occur in gastrointestinal tract. Lymphangioma can be superficial called lymphangioma circumscriptum and deep called cystic hygroma. Lymphangioma is very rare in anal canal and have nonspecific presentation. Only 4 cases of anal canal lymphangioma have been reported so far. We report a 69-year-old female with anal canal lymphangioma which was surgically excised under general anesthesia. We report a 69-year-old female who was referred to surgical outpatient department (OPD) with history of rectal bleeding on off post defecation for 4 months. She had no history of bowel alteration or weight loss and no family history bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. Her rectal examination revealed anal canal polyp. Subsequently she underwent Examination Under Anesthesia as day case, which showed anal canal polyp which was excised and hemorrhoids which were injected with oily phenol. Her histology came back as lymphangioma of anal canal. Her full colonoscopy was normal. Lymphangioma is a rare benign tumor of anal canal and treatment includes complete surgical excision and it should be included in differential diagnosis of anal canal lesions
