AB240. Unique case of diabetic ketoacidosis with multiple organ failure

Abstract: Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is an acute major, life threatening complication of diabetes characterised by hyperglycemia, ketoacidosis and ketonuria. We present a case of severe DKA, with extreme numbers at presentation. The blood glucose was 65 mmol/L, pH 6.6 and the base excess was −35 mmol/L. The patient was further complicated by acute kidney failure and cardiogenic shock. The objective of this clinical case report is to signal the unusual potential course of DKA. Despite the extreme clinical presentation, the patient had a favourable outcome.
