Abstract

Radical cystectomy (RC) with ileal conduit (IC) or neobladder formation is the gold standard treatment for muscle-invasive and high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. From a technical perspective, reconstruction can be performed using a hand-sewn anastomosis (HSA) or stapled anastomosis (STA). We aim to review current literature comparing HSA and STA in IC or neobladder formation following RC, focusing on perioperative outcomes, postoperative complications, and long-term functional results.
